Why Visit Greer, Arizona?
Greer is one of the most beautiful places in Arizona. It’s location in the White Mountains makes it a great jumping off point for a plethora of recreational opportunities.
Into hiking? There are literally hundreds of miles of amazing trails near Greer, with some reaching elevations of up to 11,000 feet above sea level. The alpine views are breath taking and the wildlife viewing opportunities astounding. Fall colors are especially vivid and unique. Look for the free 'Hit The Trails' magazine sponsored by the GCA - available at local businesses in Greer.
Maybe you’d rather be fishing? There are hundreds of miles of mountain streams in the Greer area, and the White Mountains is the only place you can catch the Apache Trout. This beautiful fish is an olive green with a striking gold belly and will give you a good fight when you get it on the line. Lee Valley Reservoir, which is only a few miles from Greer, is one of the only places this far south where you can catch Artic Graying. Rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout are also on the menu.
Are you a hunter? Whether you hunt with a rifle, a bow or a camera, the wildlife in the area is both plentiful and diversified. Within a several mile circumference of Greer you’ll find Rocky Mountain Elf, Big Horn Sheep, Pronghorn, Mule Deer, Black Bear, Mountain Lions and more. This area is a favorite for wildlife photographers.
If skiing is your thing, Greer is a popular place to stay while visiting Sunrise Ski Resort, which is located just a few miles east. Greer offers a wide variety of lodging choices and some of the finest restaurants in the state to make you stay comfortable and enjoyable.
The Greer Civic Association hosts several events each summer that provide plenty of fun for the whole family. From the duck races, to the 5K Fun Run, Greer Gazers, the annual Silent Action and so much more - you’ll meet new friends and find yourself wanting to come back over and over again.
